Welcome to konoba Vatrica website. Konoba Vatrica is a gourmet restaurant situated on eastern side of Vis Town, capital of the island of Vis in the south-east Adriatic. Here you can find traditional dishes prepared as they have been by generations, using fresh local ingredients such as olives and salted anchovies, and served either on the vine-covered terrace overlooking St Juraj's harbour, or in an ancient interior, decorated with fishing nets and farming implements.

 On some evenings you will be entertained with folk songs performed by local groups from the island. In spite of the beauty of the island, the sea and the sun, life for the people of Vis can be tough. But the rich quality of the food produced by its farmers and fisherman makes up for the hardship.

 In many ways life has changed little since the time of Napoleon. The sun shines, but the soil is poor, and it's often a struggle for its inhabitants. But the unhurried pace of life on the island, and its natural unspoiled landscape of olive and almond trees, vines, fragrant figs and wild rosemary, and exquisite beaches and coves are so easy to fall in love with you'll want to stay for a lifetime.
